DVD was at over 60 million in a comparable timeframe. Still blu-ray should still succeed the movie companies will push for being able to resell there movies every time. Even if it doesn't replaced DVD as the dominant format it'll still be around, it's not going to go UMD or anything. It'd be a more successful Laserdisc, something that the videophiles and moviephiles get and use until the next better format comes along.

Can you quote a source?
DVD was launched in March 1997 & BR in March 2006. I cannot find any sales record and am genuinely interest in the volume each respective format have sold in those time.
