Your like... 50 years behind.
Heck even before then. The US has been socialist ever since we stopped having a flat tax (if we ever did have one.) Just less so then most people.
I was kinda hoping the Republican House wouldn't get the Democrat mandated 100 votes just to see if Pelosi would blink since she seemed to indicate she had more votes to pass it then that but wanted to make sure both parties took the hit for voting for the bailout.
I don't know if the bailout is a good thing or a bad thing... but someone should of insisted that Paulson get replaced with someone who's fault this wasn't. Maybe convince Warren Buffet to take over. He's gotten really political lately and is a huge Obama guy so he'd work well with him when he's likely the next president... and McCain and republicans in general respect him anyway because of who he is and what he does.
He'd be good at figuring out who to bailout and will be helpfull and who wouldn't... and heck probably get the government a profit in the longterm. Though liquidating his assets and removing him as head of his own company probably would of screwed up the market even more though since he basically is Berkshire.
