Most normal people think Palin will do pretty poorly, and probably embarass herself.

Are you sure about that? So far the interviews she has done have been fairly poorly received. In fact given the very small number of interviews that her campaign has allowed her to give I would say that even her own party doesn't really trust her not to stuff up.
