People are forgetting you can string levels together using keys. So in theory, you (or a group of players) could string together as many levels as you want and create a storyline.
I dont think the key portals are in the beta, so this is just the tip of the Iceberg. Someone could very easily remake Mario or Sonic, but most likely would have trouble getting the physics down to make the game as fun (Sackboy would have to have "heavier" more precise jumps.
Once people can string together levels, I am pretty sure we will see lots of storylines, both original and remakes.
I would love to see a Barack Obama storyline centered game. I might actually make one when I get the game
