Intel and SanDisk are going to be releasing VERY cheap solid state drives. We're talking 8 GB drives with a small form factor and low power requirements becoming available in the 4th quarter for $45 or so. Why even put a hard drive in a slimline console when by next spring they might be able to put in a solid state drive for fairly cheap in large OEM quantities?
Apple can put a 120 GB drive in an iPod, but for some reason people seem to think that a slimline console can't accommodate a 20-60 GB drive. Strange.
