Not too big of a deal IMO. I will want to tweak my own personal character for a short time before diving in with a buddy. Fables strengths are more in the personal reflective growth of your individual character and the Fable world.
Sometimes questing with a buddy takes away from the story. Its hard to feel the atmosphere when your buddy is screaming "Kill that @#$%ing Troll you Doooosssshhhbagggg!"
