Does anyone else realize how foolish it would be, on Microsoft's part, to "announce" a slimline model nearly a year early... thereby impacting sales of the new Jasper and older models *significantly* for nearly the next year?
You can expect some inventory clearance -- either by another price cut (say they reduce the SKUs to just 1, and have it be, effectively a "Pro" model, but priced at $249.99) or by some starvation at the end of the 2nd, or early in the 3rd quarter.
I don't think they'd be foolish enough to starve themselves for nearly a year by tossing out a year-wait carrot to everyone who was on the fence about buying one.
