The RROD nonsense ended when the Falcon launched...A year ago. The problem is that fanboy acusations die hard. Falcons rarely RROD more than a PS3 or Wii would encounter their hardware failures. Jasper went even further, and so will the Slim.
At any rate, I do agree cooling should be improved.
I think the Slim will still use the standard X360 HDDs. That's a big money maker for Microsoft, and changing the way they work would be dumb (and hurt compatability between old and new systems). The HDDs could still work if you re-designed the X360 in a way that the HDD could be fitted on the top of a unit (if the system was horizontal) versus the side configuration, opposite the vents on the other side. You could streamline this very easily, I think, as the HDD docking bay could be streamlined even more so into the overall design of a X360.
Hopefully the slim leads to more sales. I think we could see the slim debut at a $169 or $179 price point August 2009.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
