Microsoft claimed that 720p was going to be the sweet spot for gaming in this generation, which doesn't mean that all 720p games are going to look better than all 1080p games. While Sony was pushing for 1080p, I think Microsoft seems to be eating their words a bit with the introduction of 1080p upscaling and the HDMI in the Xbox 360 Elite.
