I said western support was drying up. It's the first line in your quote of me.It is a role that Sony is TRYING to fulfill. I mention Capcom and Konami because they have series that western gamers seem to enjoy in the action genre as well hopefully helping round out the library.

It's not JUST western support. It's also desirable japanese support outside of RPGs. Capcom has been steadily decreasing it's support. Konami is steadily decreasing it's support. Atlus is steadily decreasing it's support. Namco is steadily decreasing it's support. Sega is steadily decreasing it's support. The only publishers staying on board seem to be Nippon Ichi, Level 5 and Square Enix, and they all specialize in RPGs.

Sony cannot be a cure all for lack of western support either. There are only a limited number of studios working on PSP games, because the majority is hard at work on the big boy PS3 trying to overcome another rival in bloody battle over second place. Therefore, Resistance Retribution is just a replacement for Syphon Filter. It's either one or the other, not both. Why? Because Insomniac is too important to the PS3 for Sony to utilize on the PSP, so Sony Bend(Syphon Filter's developer) has taken the reins of the franchise going portable. In fact, most of Sony's franchises going portable have been done by hands other than the main teams because Sony puts their real energy behind PS3 releases. So if Sony is going to perpetuate an image that the PSP is second fiddle, then how do you expect third party developers to respond?
