communist came to power because of japanese invasion.
nationalists were killing off the rest of the commies, and then the commies were like.
"WAIT! We need to stop the threat from the Japanese, we need to save our country!!!!!"
nationalists followed suit and soon enough hundreds of thousands joined the commies because they were "in their best interest", even thoug it was an escape tactic.
