There is absolutley no possible way that Resistance 2 will flop. The fact that Sony is releasing it three days before Gears of War just shows how confident they are in the title. They need a shooter to compete with what is easily the 360's biggest upcoming game (2008). Sure, Gears will sell a hell of a lot more (and probably, at least by my standards, be the better game) than R2, but R2 will still get great reviews and sell a shitload of copies.
To answer the thread: no, I don't think Resistance is Sony's Halo. I actually have interest in playing Resistance 2 while Halo 3 turned me off of that series completely. It was a pathetic sequel to say the last. Also, Sony has alot more flagship franchises than just Resistance. Halo is MS's #1 franchise, so if we were to talk about that in relation to Sony, God of War is PS3's Halo - despite not being an FPS.
