Halo has a following where people make their own stories, build masterchief suits and play Lan parties as a job. MGS also has fans with their own stories, build models and so on. Resistance isnt like that. MGS and Halo are more cult following now than just a fanbase. These 2 games matter so much to the fans, like Star Wars to it's fans. |
The mystique and cult following of series like MGS and Halo are definitely a large part of what defines both franchises. That really is a more fitting comparison, particularly since MGS4 has become synonymous with the PS3.
While MGS may be a smaller niche franchise than Halo, despite the 10 year history on the PS, that's due largely to the broader appeal of Halo. But, those who like the MGS franchise, typically consider it among the best franchises in gaming.
That's something Resistance just hasn't built up and really couldn't over a period of less than two years.
