this thread was about contributing not arguing.
In the beginning porting was a downgrade from the PC. Now, it isn't so much and the real downgrade comes when you "port" a game designed for one console to another.
In essence, "porting" from the PC has lost that original meaning because the associated idea of "downgrade" is negligible.
Now, when someone says something is a port it means:
It was made specifically with architecture in mind, for one environment and now it is simply being translated to another environment in the way a fifth year language speaker would translate between two languages. Very close, but still noticeable.
That is the "port" we are talking about here.
