need opinion on upconvert dvd vs. high definition

I have a 61" 1080p TV, a PS3, and the Planet Earth blu-rays. That said, for something like Planet Earth, action movies, etc there is a huge difference between blu-ray and DVD, but for a drama/comedy movie it's probably not going to matter.
