The saddest part of this story is that MS shut down Ensemble but meanwhile they announced that they, MS, hold the AoE rights and that they are "excited about the future potential of AoE games". Sounds like sarcasm, but it's just how business is done these days...

This story teaches you one thing: Even if you sign a contract with a major company, make sure to keep the rights to your intellectual property (many musicians and other artists had to learn this lesson the hard way).
