Wow... you guys are very uninformed... there is no way the Cell is better than any Corel Duo. The Cell doesn't have 7 cores. Is a single core with 7 SPE's... |

This shouldn't be in Sony Discussion.
Regarding the original question: The Cell is used in a variety of different devices. Other than saying, "it totally depends on what you want to use it for", I would say smallflyingtaco has the right idea. Go get yourself an IBM Cell-based Blade and find out for us. They use the most powerful Cell variant on the market at the moment. In terms of pure gigaFLOPS, the IBM Blade will win benchmarks that are designed to take advantage of the pseudo-cores.
Assuming that:
- You're not concerned about specifically designed applications (Fourier analysis)
- By power, you mean pixel-pusing power
- You actually want to compare a PS3 to a machine with a Core 2 Quad 9650 in it
- That machine has a high-end motherboard with a high-end SLI-based video card configuration
The PC will give you prettier graphics.
So I'll say both.
