The whole Halo killer thing has been dropped since the first Killzone.
What is most likely to happen is Killzone 2 will be good on its own, and Halo 3 will be good on its own.
This doesn't remove Killzone 2 from being very significant. Sony needs a big 1st party exclusive FPS in its lineup.
The PS2's weakest genre was the FPS and the PS3 has already surpassed the last PS in its short lifetime in this area.
FPS is a very big genre and Sony wants a big FPS to sell games and systems and this is why there is such emphasis on Killzone 2.
Also, the whole comment about Gears of War 2 not being better looking than Killzone 2 is wrong because games will continue looking better as they go.
Unreal Tournament 3 already looks better than Gears while having much larger environments and much more going on in the game at a time while Gears had small, closed environments and 8 people killing each other.
Games will keep imroving in what they can do.
