Are you sure you arent confusing Sony with Microsoft? Because I would think the console most asscociated with Shooters like Halo and Call of Duty and Gears of War is a little more anti-kiddy than the one with a major kid-esque title (ratchet and clank). Plus I have yet to hear racial slurs and be called a f*g on PSN. :P I would stay to argue you, but Ive seen your opinions on the PS3 and it would be pointless. |
I think you confuse me with someone else.
MS piggy backed on the PlayStation brand. The "iz teh kiddie" arguments were begun way back on the PS1. Both Sony and MS fanboys have ridden that train, but I saw no reason to bring in that part of MS since it was irrelevent to the potential success of Fable 2 (though if you want to talk BK3, I can see that being a massive disappointment for MS).
If you look at the core audience for the PS3, these are the players who salivated over Resistance, Lair, Heavenly Sword, DMC4, Haze, MGS4, Killzone 2, etc. These are not the casuals of the PS2, who by and large have yet to commit to a $400 system. If Sony is banking on LBP to move systems, or on the hardcore to flock to the title, they will be disappointed. I do expect the game to be a success, perhaps even a 1-2million seller, but to listen to the fanboys, Sony's press, and even some of the gaming press, you'd think this the second coming of GTA3 or WiiSports.
