Everyone arguing for an early PS3 release should read what Wada said. In all honesty, it IS getting the early release, but in Japan instead of everywhere else. They're not even localizing, for either version, until the PS3 version is released in Japan. So, a worldwide simultaneous release would add more months to the wait. They decided to put it out in Japan early since the 360 isn't getting a release there anyway, and release the localized version worldwide simultaneously.

I've done some translations (English to Japanese) and it's not easy. Just doing some simple business documents are hard enough, I can't imagine how hard it would be to do it for a game of this scope, in multiple languages, trying to preserve the context and nuances where they can and adjusting others to culturally appropriate terms. Then you have to contend with different censorship rules, getting the voice work done, fixing the animation for cutscenes so that the dubbed voices match, at least loosely, the movements of the characters. Just from a translation viewpoint, it could take months. Not to mention the testing you have to do after its done, then the printing, shipping to retail, and getting it all done so that they can be released simultaneously across 2 systems and multiple countries.
