from a money perspective it makes more sense to release the finished ps3 version instead of sitting on it for a few months waiting for the port of the 360 version to be complete.

but

microsoft may have paid top dollar for this and want a same timesy release so SE may infact sit on the ps3 version till its all done

that's the one thing I don't get

Let's say the NA version of the PS3 is done, but the 360 version won't be done for another 3 months. Why not just release the PS3 version then and then release the 360 version in 3 months. It is not like SE will lose any sales, since it will still hit the Xbox market anyway, just after the PS3. The only person who would lose in this situation would be Microsoft and SE shouldn't care about that. It's pretty dumb to make PS3 owners wait just so the 360 version can come out at the same time. Not many other developers have done this...except maybe GTAIV? Which resulted in people saying that Sony had a contract that ensured the same release as 360.

That is why I believe Microsoft had to have paid something to ensure simultaneous release in EU/NA
