Lots of you are wrong on this thread, google have done hardware. They have released enterprise servers that large organisations can sit on their internal networks to index files / documents / etc.

A google console is unlikely but if they ever did it im sure they would find a way to incorporate google ads into it. maybe (and this is being massively hypothetical and not really too serious) games would be free or at least cheaper than they are currently to download over the net and then publishers would make their money back through in game advertising. unfortunately this would encourage popular multiplayer games like halo / cod rather than shorter but by no means inferior sp experiences like MGS / Bioshock.
What is certainly more feasible is a google media box, its not impossible to suggest that in the future google will be able to start indexing video and sound and therefore be a portal to searching for programs on the tv. I was involved @ uni in writing an algorithm to decide what genre a film was by looking at its picture and that was just 1 person spending about 10% of his time over a 9 month period - im sure the google boffins could do stuff a million times more advanced. It would of course have google map / internet / chrome / gmail all built in already.
