Using a PS3 with a PC monitor will only work properly if it's a newer model with HDMI input.

Unless it's HDCP compatible, you won't be able to watch Blu-Ray movies at full resolution (which is what you're paying for when you buy them) if that's something you're interested in.

If you're using an older non-HDCP display, it might not even output in HD resolutions.

You can convert the connection to DVI with an adapter, but DVI does not transfer audio signals. Unless you output sound direct from the PS3 using the digital optical out port, which would require an external stereo system, you won't have sound.
