Why did Sony use the Cell processor in the PS3?

Well Sony saying something like 5 million Playstation fans will buy the Playstation 3 even if it didn't have any games made me immediately think of mindless drones at the time. If say Nintendo or Microsoft had said that 5 million of their fans will buy their next gaming console even if it didn't have any games released with it wouldn't you think the same thing?

Well for now the ps3 has sold 4 mil to fans without any good games. I mainly catching up on old ps2 games til then and playing demo's games. PS3 fans know that Sony will come with the goods. You have to remember they are setting things up in the background. Where as Wii and 360 have basically shown most of what they have to offer.

 

Also, I believe GTA is delayed due to the 360. Why wait for the ps3? R* got paid by by MS for the extra content. So in essence you'd might as well say gta4 is primary on the 360. I think it is the disc space and no hdd in the core.
