I'd like them to just use steam =)
Seriously though as much as I agree on the anti-piracy thing Twesterm I disagree with you on the DRM issue. There are good ways to handle copy protection (as evidenced by steam), until I hear a good reason not to either use steam or implement a steam-like setup into their own system I have no sympathy for them where it concerns public outcries against their DRM policies. There are solutions they just have to use them.
PS - I tried Spore and really didn't like it =/ I haven't played the Civ or Space age yet though, maybe it will grow on me. Not sure I plan on buying it at this point, but almost certainly not before the holidays with the large list of other games coming out and gaming cash being tight this time of year.
