actually 500mhz is a bit slow. My sister complains about her 1.3GHz laptop being slow. I basically have to clean the cache out and everything every two weeks.

Well, windows takes way too much resources when it comes to basic desktop use. Theres similar tech called linutop and it runs nicely 'everything' you need for regular desktop use.
