I have to say that this current generation should last longer than other previous gens. Not to say it will but it should. Economy is bad, people spend less money and would maybe not be as willing to shell out for a new console. Also almost all the companies need to be able to profit from this one, this includes MS Sony and quite a bit of the developers out there.
