I'm not sure what "liberties" I'm taking, since M$'s EDD posted more profit last year? Are you talking about life-to-date for the Xbox project, or life-to-date for the division? Most business plans are forward looking, and sure, the past matters, but the future is far more important. So, you can deliver and beat estimates, but if the current forecast falls short of expectation...you're going to get sunk. Looking forward, I think this holiday season is going to top last year's by a signifigant margin, putting EDD future into the green column...M$ projects for only 4% growth, which I'm sure they have far mroe expertise in estimating, but that means more profits to the bottomline.
