In the UK it is illegal for a party to run their own adverts on TV, they are each given the same amount of minutes on the BBC in which the broadcast is free. No more television advertising is allowed outside of this.

I wish we had something more like this.  The system is pretty out of control here.  Thanks "freedom of speech"!

 

 

 Well, it's all about fairness. Right-wing parties are more likely to be supported by corporations, and rich guys, who will be willing to donate a lot to keep taxes down, and shit. This gives some parties far more money than others, and can give them an unfair advantage, and that's not really democratical.

Not in the US.  In the US corporations give money to both parties... pretty equally really.  Heck a lot of companies give to both.

I mean, people blame the republicans for all the stuff letting Freddie May and Fannie Mac get away with stuff... yet who got the most money from those banks politically?
