Anyway, while I believe it is true that Sony owns the rights to the Dark Cloud name, that only makes it less likely that we'll see a DC3 - on the PS3, anyway. Level-5 is far more likely to announce DS or Wii games.

Definitely not out of the question to assume a new PS3 project will be announced.  L5 is finishing up work on WKC so they're bound to be working on other things, and they have a fantastic relationship with Sony so why wouldn't they continue working with them now, as opposed to moving to the Wii/DS?  Safe to say we'll hear about at least one project for the PS3.

I'm going to say it's probably going to be

50% - Sony
40% - Nintendo
5% - Microsoft
5% - Atari 2600 ;)

I would consider Level-5 a second party studio for Sony. Sony has helped Level-5 a lot in the past and they have a good relationship. Insomniac makes Ps3 exclusive games only and they're independant as well because of how close Sony and them are. I really doubt Level-5 would jump ship now considering how much they still support the Ps3 hardware and it's capabilites. They have said White Knight Chronicles is only possible on the Ps3 so maybe they don't mind a hit in sales if they can make a quality game. Ps3 is also bigger in Japan then Xbox which means it might easier for RPGS to attach to gamers. Even if they did want to leave Sony wouldn't let them go easily considering their lack of RPG developers. Level-5 has produced 1 of the greatest rpg for psp and soon for Ps3, really doubt Sony wouldn't pay for them to stay exclusive to home consoles.

A second party developers usually develops specifically for the consoles owned by the console manufacturer, which would be Sony. However Level 5 has developed games for the DS. This means that Level 5 is an independent developer and can choose which platform to develop for. Therefore they could announce games for the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS or the PSP.

Microsoft may be trying to heal their relationship with Level 5 and maybe they did. None of us can truely exclude the Xbox 360 from being a viable platform.

SickleSigh,

Some companies like being independent and will not sell their studio for any amout of money. I doubt Level 5 would became a part of Sony's family. They are doing fine on their own.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
