It's not damage control, but you know Carmack always does state the exact truth and clearly they regret revealing design decisions based on DVD / no HDD.
It is sounding a little pat that the story apparently leant itself to two DVDs with 1 wasteland each... but you know what are they going to say?
They were honest about some stuff but are worried it will affect sales/perception and want to minimise confusion.
At the end of the day this is the first title yet where I do feel the DVD / lack of HDD on 360 was a limiting factor... and to be fair I think they found the BR drive speed on PS3 limiting too.
Really more than anything they're making me think that this is going to look and maybe play best on a PC (although that wouldn't exactly be a surprise I suppose).
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
