I don't think the person is trying to get any money. I bet they're just hoping that people will make a huge deal out of this, it gets ran on every news site, and that person gets their name out there. It will get to that stage before court and it will just get dropped but that person still had their name and their screenplay out there with some amount of recognition. Since it's already been shown that the two aren't alike (since the suit didn't go anywhere) the writer is free to do with it what they want.
I kind of think it's a silly thing since it really doesn't put you in that positive of a light but whatever floats your boat.
