For gamers, this is nothing but bad news. Since MS has dominated the PC market, there is nothing they have offered the customers that is actual value for money or a top end product.

They are now competing with Apple and we all know how Vista turned out to be!
The Zune maybe good, but it isn't anywhere near as good as an Ipod or a creative Zen.
MSN search is nowhere near as good as Google.
Google created Google maps, MS decided to copy, but again it failed to be as successful as Google Maps.
Sony seems to be another hit on their list and how long can Sony fend MS off?!

What will MS do if they start battling all these competitors simultaneously but with no positive results?
So far, financially, the results seem to be having spent more money to kill their competition then actually having succeeded in either of the avenues.

MS should go back to basics. To what made MS in the 1st place, that is to create and be creative. Instead of focussing on the competition, they should focus on themselves becoming a better industry.

trying to monopolise has already cost them millions of dollars in law suits. Looks like MS will never learn!

MS is a succesful company.  A company main function be it Sony, Ninetendo, or MS is to make MONEY!! They are trying to beat out their competation in multiple ways! Ms is doing just fine and making a ton of money.  You do make some good points but there are plenty of people who like the ZUne of the Ipod everyone is trying to do better than there compatation.  WHy is MS always singled out.

Microsoft Corp. today announced revenue of $15.84 billion for the fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30, 2008, an 18% increase over the same period of the prior year. Operating income and diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $5.68 billion and $0.46, representing growth of 42% and 48%, respectively, over the same period of the prior year.

 

 

 

Just for the record I am not an MS fan but people need to realzie they are a company out for themselves but all companies are even APPLE
