 They are mostly Buddhist. Of course Christianity is a major religion around the world because of many reasons, so obviously there are a good amount of them in Japan but doesn't make the majority. (It'd be like getting pissed off that a game is releasing in NA on Buddha Day in May.)

(And if I'm not mistaken the Japanese celebrate a week or so into the new year unlike NA where we basically celebrate on and up to the 25th by stuffing our faces then digest for 5 days then go out and get wasted)

 

    Technically about 70% of Japanese are atheist. Japan is the least religious country in the world by far.  There isn't a single religion that has more then 10% of the populace.  

 

   I doubt the 25th means much to most of them at all unless they work in a company that sells to the US or European markets.
