The 360 already has a large install base, this alone guarantees future sales as support and recommendations are bound to happen.

The Dreamcast had to cut costs to compete. With such a low install base and therefore no major software royalties it pretty much hung itself

Same for 360 in Europe.

 

 

Same for PS3 in America. And we all saw how the price cut failed for the PS3 in America.

If you consider the PS3 selling an average of 70k in NA weekly a failure... the PS3 is twice the price of the 360 in Europe and it outsells it by 30k. Hell, even the PS2 almost outsells the 360 in Europe. I would say that the 360 failed, not the PS3.
