If that is true then he said that a long time ago (relatively speaking), before Pakistan was pushed into the corner like they are now.

At that time it would of been even worse to invade because it would of knocked Musharraf out of power and put the anti-americans into power full force.

At the time he was angry because Bush called off an operation in Pakistan to kill Al Queda Leaders because it would hurt our relationship diplomatically.
