Different cultures.

Not a lot of western gamers like JRPG's either. (Although you'd think all gamers do looking through online forums).

Although JRPGs have been adopted more readily in NA and EU then FPS have in Japan.

Perhaps Japan as a culture is simply more traditional and less willing to try new things.

Western gamers love Japanese RPGs or at least Pokemon and FF.

OT, I don't know about Japanese gamers but I know why I don't like most FPS. I find the controls to be hard to learn and bad in general. Also, although I am in the Army, I think pretending to be in some type of special group of killers is silly. If I am looking for multi-player experinces, I look for games that are more light hearted and fun (Wii Sports) or deeper (SSBB, SSFII, CivII).

I think you mean, Western gamers love the Japanese RPGs they ever heard of like Pokemon, FF, KH.  Japanese gamers don't hate FPSs, they are just indifferent towards them.
