Why isn't buzz and singstar not in Current/New franchises when Yakuza, Killzone and R&C are in that category despite having a history with other sony consoles.

Also, Buzz and Singstar have games out on the PS3 already, Yakuza and Killzone don't.

I'm not trying to make a list war :D. I just want your opinion on the franchises and what you think can be succesful and what can be salvaged?

Fair enough. I just thought it was a little odd that you would call those old and those new. (another one I wanted to mention was ICO and SoTC being from the same series or at least world).

Anyway, does Sony really need to make household names/brand names/mascots?

I actually like that they are making new IP's to compete with MS, as it shows they aren't resting on achievements of days gone by.

The problem with making household names/gaming icons I should say (I agree with TWRoO, very few household names out there) is that you risk alienating 3rd parties by forcing them to compete with your own, I mean look at Nintendo, If I were a 3rd party I would not touch the Wii as I would be forced to fight against Nintendo's creations whom would have the advantage of iconic status and obviously hardware advantages.

Look at microsoft, in the xbox era, no one wanted to touch the FPS genre because of Halo, and those that did, on any platform were almost always burnt to a crisp.

Even within Sony from previous generations, Gran Turismo ensured that very few realistic racing sims came out and even fewer that succeeded on any console (forza one of the very few exceptions).
