Pure: Offline has NO Multiplayer?

I just came across this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pure/

notice how the number of players = 1 offline. to me, single player racing games these days are not acceptable. with motorstorm 2 on it's way featuring offline splitscreen, you kind of feel that pure won't be able to compete with it.
