Yes, you're onto something, please elaborate. What didn't they do right actually? Me wants to know.

Launch
Rushed launch which caused RRoD
First next gen released a year before everyone else and was struggling to outsell a last gen system (Got passed already by the Wii and is on track to being passed by the Ps3)
Arcade model is a waste
DVD 9 is a waste
No wifi is a waste (Depending who owns the console)
No recharge kit is a waste
They always said how they wanted to give the consumer "options" but really they just wanted to strip all useful things off of the console so when the user realized he needs a HDD, Live subscription, and a recharge kit so he doesn't go through 5 dollars a week on batteries they could price gauge the consumer.
Need I go on with their failed price point?

Do you realize that a good number of your reasons could be applied to another console? Do you also believe the other said console should re-evaluate and sit out, or is the 360 just a special case?
|
Just the 360.
The Ps3 shouldn't have even had any life this generation. MS should have snuffed the compitition out while the ps3 was lagging behind.
MS hasn't made a profit for it's gamming division yet.
|
That doesn't really answer my question. We're talking about who should sit out NEXT generation, and your reasoning is that 360 should have snuffed out PS3 and because MS hasn't made a profit yet. Both apply to Sony. PS3 should have snuffed out the Wii judging by last generation standards and the PS3 is making billions of dollars for Sony in the negative world. So why should only the 360 sit out if Sony is making basically all of the same mistakes?

I was still talking about how MS dropped the ball.... My reasoning why MS should sit out is because they miserably failed last gen and completely dropped the ball this one. And though Sony hasn't m,ade profit on the Ps3 they have on their gaming division (Which isn't tied in with Zunes or games for windows) And since they were profitable last 2 gens they were able to take a risk with implimenting Blu-ray into their device which paid off by winning the format war. Will it pay off by making them money? Of course. More people who buy HD-TV's (who makes those... hm... Sony) Will buy Blu-ray players (Hm... I think Sony makes these things too) and more people who buy players will buy movies.... doesn't Sony own a movie studio and a portion of Blu-ray rights?
Also judging who should win based on previous gens just fails miserably. Nintendo should have never lost to Sony then.... right?
