Here's a fun fact: Taking two paper clips and winding each one around the terminal of a 9-volt battery will allow you to stick the end of each wire in a cup of salt water. Each wire will bubble. You are making hydrogen, oxygen, and because of the salt, chlorine. 'tis called electrolysis.

Now do the same with a cut up DC adapter and the carbon rods ripped out of a lantern battery. Even more gas :D!
