Once Elected, Palin Hired Friends and Lashed Foes

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/us/politics/14palin.html?ex=1379131200&en=dd4449ce3310ba6e&ei=5124&partner=digg&exprod=digg

Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as a qualification for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

When Ms. Palin had to cut her first state budget, she avoided the legion of frustrated legislators and mayors. Instead, she huddled with her budget director and her husband, Todd, an oil field worker who is not a state employee, and vetoed millions of dollars of legislative projects.

Wasen't the NY Times the paper that broke the story about Palin censoring books? I think Cnn proved that wrong. Are trying to find things wrong? Why don't they even it up and write a story about the Terrorist Ayers that Obama is buddies with.... Wait there is not ebough proof... Does not seem to stop them with Palin now does it (reffering to the book story).

If there were no laws in Alaska against this, and the person did a good job why make this a story? It is illegal for a President to it (Did not stop Bill from making Hilary a Secretary), and she would not be making the appointments anyways. This looks like another attempt from the NY Times to smear Palin...
