3. The high-def battle will not take years. If blu-ray is ALREADY selling 3:1 over its competitor the end has to be near. So you think that when it gets down to 10:1 that microsoft will keep going against all odds? Won't happen.
Isn't DVD outselling blu-ray and hd-dvd combined by like 10:1? It will take quite some time before any HD-format can out-perform the old standard.
Xbox360/PS3 also seem to have problems to outsell PS2.
Comparing the next-generation of DVD's to sales of the previous is faulty, b/c the newer gen's sales will always be lower. Hybrid sales are lower than cars powered only by combustion engines, the intel core 2 duo is going to sell much higher for a while than the core 2 quatro, etc. Now, what matters are the sales of the blu-ray to the HDVDD in terms of who will win. The corporate analysts have already determined that high-def DVD's are here to stay the only question is who will lead the way.
Yeah, and corporate analysts are never wrong...
Is it possible that next-generation DVD's flop.... yes it's a possibility. How likely? not sure, but I don't plan on buying either BR or HD until there's a clear winner.
Oh and a clear winner isn't BR because it outsold HD DVD for a total of two months. A clear winner is when HD DVD or BR dissappears just like the UMD's.
