Yeah I honestly think the core was really there to compete with the ps2 and even wii since those don't really need a hardrive to play most games. Basically you can say your able to play HD games for only $50 more then the wii or $30 once the price drop is available. The core could be useful in helping people decide how they want their 360 experience to be if the accesories where priced accordingly. Would be nice to offer a core for like $200 and then have the option for lets say $50 wireless adapter and $50 20 gig Hardrive or $100-$150 120 gig drive and even make the wired controler like $25. Most of that could happen next year if the core stays because prices will keep dropping. Also keep in mind that as long as the core is in place then the prices have to add up so that each version seems like a value though with the current price drop being rumored it does seem like the core get the worst value and premium looks the best which is nothing new really.
