I was watching television the other day and I actually saw someone comment on this ... I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of "The bias in the media is not in what they tell people, it is in what is edited out"
Now, the sad thing is I believe the mainstream media still has (massive) value but their antics are what is really killing them. The speed that information travels because of the internet means that by the time you see something on television (or worse in the paper) it is already old-news. If the mainstream media outlets focused on giving a complete unbiased picture of what happened I think a lot of people would see value in them still; if they're just going to be as biased as your average blogger they don't serve any purpose anymore.
