| Frodaddyg said: So, woke up this morning to the wonderful news that my PS3 which I got barely a month ago isn't reading discs of any variety anymore. I still have it under warranty, but I'm hesitant to get another one now. I had my 360 do the same thing (not RROD, but stop reading discs) but that took over two years to happen. Now I'm stuck between getting another used 80 GB with backwards compatibility, or getting a new 80 GB without it. Either way, this is annoying as fuck. |
Same exact thing happened to me 1-2 months ago, you'll probably get the "error 801xxxxx etc" pop up soon. This is caused by some kind of corruption that happened during an install, and it effects the actual hardware. Send it back to Sony and they'll fix it.
I got my 60gb BC PS3 fixed and shiped back in 3 weeks, make sure you tell the customer service guy that you want the same exact model back.
