How can anybody have even a little bit of respect for our political process

I wouldnt call a president a puppet. He just plays a particular role thats defined bt the constituiton. He's the commander in chief at war time, but his main responsibility is to organize the execution of laws. Congress makes them, Judical intuprets, and the president enforces. He's supposed to protect the liberty of the citizens, which is a weighty job.
