How can anybody have even a little bit of respect for our political process

Actually, Bush can not spend a dime. Only Congress can. He has the power to Veto, and can submit bills, but everything is approved in Congress. Hell, even the war was approved in Congress.

I say this, because for the last two years, Congress has been Democrat, and it has not gotten any better. You can blame republicans if it makes you feel better, but they are all just as bad.
