Don't put ice on it. Let it get really gross. Take a picture. Post it here. Then I'll show you mine.
It takes a few days to heal. If it's really really bad, it could change from a deep dark purple with a tiny bit of red to faded light purple with tiny spots of green and yellow on its way back to normal.
