What part of China were you in? I was in Beijing a year ago, and other than downtown, it was a sad sight; as in really really poor. The places those people live in are not even structurally sound. I found tons of shops with illegal dvds; not to mention the silk market I went to in downtown Beijing. They had ripoffs of everything you can think of from cameras to cell phones to designer clothing. And those NDS flash cards.
